The show opens up with Joe Tessitore welcoming us and narrating the arrivals of Shawn Michaels (talking with Johnny Gargano), Trish Stratus, Kurt Angle and Mark Henry. Actor Jon Bernthal and Metro Boomin are then shown in separate locations in the crowd and John Cena’s locker room door was shown.

A Paul Levesque-narrated video package on Cena is then shown and pyro shoots off from the ring. Tessitore then narrates the arrivals of Cody Rhodes, Oba Femi, Bayley, Sol Ruca, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater. GUNTHER is then shown walking backstage while the crowd boos.

Joe Tessitore then stands on a platform with a desk and introduces Stephanie McMahon as his co-host. Joe then asks what does this mean to everyone. Stephanie says it is electric in the building. She then says everyone is here to pay tribute to a true legend. Joe then talks about John’s desire to showcase young talent. Stephanie then says it is fitting that John wanted his last night to be about the rising stars.

Champion vs. Champion Match: Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes vs. WWE NXT Champion “The Ruler of NXT” Oba Femi

The match starts off with both men exchanging some words. Both men then lock up and Oba pushes Cody away. Both men then lock up again and Cody cinches in a side head lock and a hammer lock. Oba then goes for a back elbow, but Cody avoids it. Cody then cinches in a waist lock and a side head lock. Cody then goes between the legs, but Oba blocks a drop down punch. Oba then hits a uranage back breaker. Oba then hits some punches to the ribs and the head. Oba then hits an elbow to the top of the head. Oba then hits an Irish whip, but Cody hits some forearms. Oba then sends Cody into the turnbuckles and tosses Cody across the ring. Oba then hits an Irish whip and Cody floats over and goes for a power slam, but Oba blocks it. Oba then hits a slam and he gets a near fall.

Oba then hits a forearm and Cody hits a kick. Oba then hits an uppercut to the throat. Oba then hits a hesitation back breaker for a near fall. Oba then hits a Northern Lariat. Oba then goes for a belly-to-back suplex, but Cody gets to his feet. Oba then misses a shoulder into the corer and he hits the ring post. Cody then hits a flying forearm, but he bounces off Oba. Oba then charges into the corner and Cody moves. Cody then hits a power slam. Cody then hits a Cody Cutter for a near fall. Cody then goes for another Cody Cutter, but Oba catches Cody. Cody then sends Oba to the floor and Cody goes for a suicide dive and Oba hits a forearm on Cody. Oba then charges at Cody and Cody drops down and Oba goes over the top rope and to the floor. Cody then hits a suicide dive. Cody then sets up for another dive to the floor, but Oba returns to the ring and hits a spine buster for a near fall.

Oba then gets Cody up, but Cody gets to his feet. Cody then hits a drop down uppercut, but Oba clotheslines Cody over the top rope and to the floor. Oba then goes to the floor and he sets up for a running European uppercut over the announce desk. Cody is bleeding from the head and both men return to the ring. Oba then hits a choke slam for a near fall. Oba then goes for a pop up power bomb, but Cody leaps over Oba and hits a double jump Cody Cutter for a near fall. Drew McIntyre then makes his way down to the ring and he attacks Cody.

The winner of the Champion vs. Champion Match due to a disqualification, Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes!

After the match, Drew punches Cody but Oba pulls Drew off Cody. Drew then pokes Oba and Oba pushes Drew to the mat. Cody then hits a Cody Cutter on Drew. Oba then hits a choke slam on Drew. Drew then leaves the ring. Cody then tosses Oba his title belt and he raises Oba’s hand. Michael Cole then says Cody is the present and Oba is the future, but he doesn’t think the future is too far away. Oba then raises Cody’s arm and both men shake hands while Cody’s entrance theme plays.

Cole and Barrett then praises Oba Femi while they are shown at their desk. They then hype the women’s match and Cena’s locker door is shown.

A video is then shown with the NBC Today Show crew, Tyrese Haliburton, Jordanna Brewster, Eli Manning, Snoop Dogg, Peyton Manning, and Jimmy Fallon all wishing Cena well in his retirement.

A video is then show with Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Bayley, Rey Mysterio, Charlotte Flair, Jey Uso, Stephanie McMahon and CM Punk all paying tribute to John Cena. Punk is teary-eyed as he says he wouldn’t be back in WWE if it wasn’t for Cena. He then says contrary to popular belief, Cena inspires him.

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night, with Bayley hugging Trish Stratus in the crowd on her way and Sol Ruca and ZARIA follow.

Singles Match: Bayley vs. NXT’s Sol Ruca

The match starts off with both women locking up and Bayley cinches in a side head lock into a waist lock. Sol then hits a standing switch and Bayley hits a side head lock take down. Sol then gets a rollup for a near fall. Bayley then cinches in an arm bar and hits an elbow to the shoulder. Bayley then hits an arm wringer, but Sol hits a cartwheel to land on her feet. Bayley then hits an arm wringer. Sol then walks on her hand and she takes Bayley down with a handstand rana. Bayley then cinches in a wrist lock and an arm wringer. Sol then lands on her feet on a hip toss and hits an X-Factor. Bayley then goes to the floor and Bayley gets on the apron and drops Sol in the ropes. Bayley then goes for the drop kick through the corner, but Sol blocks it. Sol then avoids a leg sweep and she kicks Bayley. Sol then misses a moonsault off the ring post and Bayley hits a forearm.

Both women then return to the ring and Bayley hits a forearm and she tries to get Sol on her shoulders, but Sol counters into an inside cradle. Sol then gets another near fall. Sol then hits a leg sweep and she leaps over Bayley and hits a thrust kick. Sol then sends Bayley to the floor and Sol sets up for a Sasuke Special onto Bayley. Sol then misses a springboard splash when Bayley moves. Bayley then hits a sunset flip power bomb into the turnbuckles for a near fall. Bayley then hits a knee to the back and cinches in a rear chin lock. Sol then gets a rollup for a near fall. Bayley then misses a splash into the corner.

Sol then hits some forearms and a chop. Sol then hits some back elbows and an Irish whip followed by a German suplex. Sol then goes to the turnbuckles and she kicks Bayley. Sol then hits a cartwheel on the ropes into a DDT for a near fall. Sol then comes off the ropes and Bayley catches Sol and hits her with a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Bayley then hits a forearm and she goes for a Saito Suplex, but Sol blocks it. Bayley then puts Sol in the tree of woe and hits a double jump elbow drop for a near fall.

Sol with a back heel kick and a back slide for a near fall. They stay locked together and Bayley sets for Rose Plant but Sol with a handstand to escape. Sol with a running knee for a near fall. Bayley stays upright and pulls Sol off the turnbuckles to avoid a Sol Snatcher. Bayley with a Rose Plant and Sol gets her foot on the ropes to stop the count. Bayley with forearms and a Saito suplex. Bayley goes to the turnbuckles for an elbow drop and Sol gets her knees up. Sol with an O’Connor Roll and Sol hits Sol Snatcher but Bayley rolls to the apron. Bayley with a victory roll for a near fall. Sol with a reversal for the win.

The winner of the Singles Match, NXT’s Sol Ruca!

After the match, a smiling ZARIA enters the ring and celebrates with Sol Ruca. Lyra Valkyria then comforts Bayley, who walks over and shakes hands with Sol. Bayley then has all four women hold up their arms together and they all salute in tribute to John Cena.

Tag Team Match: WWE World Tag Team Champions “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and LWO’s Dragon Lee vs. “The Young OG” Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion “The Youngest In Charge” Leon Slater

We then get a video package with Sheamus, Rob Van Dam, Corey Graves, Stu the cameraman, Michael Hayes, Michael Cole and Cody Rhodes all expressing their gratitude to John Cena. Michael Cole then mentions the other announcers who have sat beside him on commentary during Cena’s career.

We then go back to Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon. Joe asks Stephanie what wowed her. Stephanie says Oba brought it to Cody. Stephanie then says Sol Ruca beat Bayley tonight. Stephanie then says her athleticism is off the charts. Joe then says this show feels different because it is funneling to one moment. Joe then asks how this feels different and Stephanie says everyone is waiting for Cena’s final match.

Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Dragon Lee and AJ Styles follow.

Tag Team Match: WWE World Tag Team Champions “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and LWO’s Dragon Lee vs. “The Young OG” Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion “The Youngest In Charge” Leon Slater

The match starts off with Leon and Evans hitting some kicks and Evans hits a plancha on AJ. Leon then hits a plancha over the ring post onto Lee. Slater then hits a cross body on Lee and Evans tags in. Evans then hits a frog splash and he gets a near fall. Leon then tags in and Evans hits a punch. Slater then hits a clothesline into the corner. Leon then hits a snap mare and he gets a near fall. Leon then hits a punch and Lee hits a kick on Leon and an elbow on Evans. Leon then misses a shoulder in the corner and Lee drops down and Evans goes over the top rope and to the floor. Leon then stops Lee, but Lee lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt. Lee then floats over and hits a sit-out power bomb.

AJ and Evans then tag in and AJ hits a series of strikes and a clothesline. AJ with a clothesline into the corner and an Ushigoroshi. AJ with a belly-to-back into a face plant. Evans with a punch when AJ goes for a springboard move. AJ avoids a baseball slide. Evans misses an Asai Moonsault but lands on his feet. Evans is sent into the ringside barrier. Evans kicks AJ after AJ catches Leon. Lee is sent into the ring post. Evans hits a double jump cutter and Leon tags in and hits the swanton 450 but Lee breaks up the cover.

Evans with a round kick to Lee but Lee avoids a kick. Lee with a clothesline to stop a rebound move by Evans. Lee with a flip dive onto Evans. Leon ssts for a Styles Clash but AJ with a back body drop. Leon holds on and AJ rolls through to try for a Styles Clash but Leon avoids it. AJ with a forearm and he sets for a Phenomenal Forearm. AJ slips on the ropes and Leon gets a near fall. Leon goes up top but AJ gets back on his feet. AJ blocks a missile drop kick and hits a Styles Clash for the win.

After the match, AJ helps Leon up and they all salute Cena.

We then go back and Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon and they talk about the emotion in the building. The Miz then interrupts them when Stephanie was about to say something. Miz then says it would have been awesome if this tour didn’t act like he didn’t exist. Miz then says he has been a main character in John Cena’s career. Miz then reminds everyone that he beat John Cena at WrestleMania. Miz then says he demands respect. R-Truth then makes his way out.

Truth says he saw the footage. You did something inappropriate with Nick Aldis’ balls. You took someone’s opportunity, and it was his. Miz looks at the piece of paper and it says Joe Hendry. Joe makes his presence on the apron. Miz wants the stupid music turned off. Miz says he is sick of that. Truth says Miz asked for it. Miz throws a punch but Joe blocks it. Joe with a fallaway slam and the meme turn with Truth. They do a double Five Knuckle Shuffle on Miz. Joe with a Standing Ovation and Truth makes the count.

We then return to Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon and they thank John Cena. A video package is then shown with many of today’s WWE stars paying tribute to John Cena.

GUNTHER then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night and John Cena follows.

Singles Match: 17-time World Champion John Cena vs. “The Ring General” GUNTHER

The match starts off with both men locking up and they go to a stalemate. GUNTHER then goes to the apron and he has some words with the referee. GUNTHER then returns to the ring. Both men then lock up again and GUNTHER sends Cena to the mat. GUNTHER then hits a kick and a European uppercut. GUNTHER then hits a chop. GUNTHER then hits more chops. GUNTHER then hits a slam on Cena. GUNTHER then hits a hard Irish whip. Cena then blocks a chop and he punches GUNTHER. Cena then hits a flying shoulder tackle followed by a second one. Cena then hits a Blue Thunder Bomb. Cena then sets up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle and he hits it.

Cena gets Gunther up for a moment but Gunther counters with a German suplex. Gunther with a clothesline and Cena tries or a snap mare when Gunther goes for a sleeper. Cena with a snap mare and he applies an STF. Gunther reaches for the ropes and Cena tries to adjust the hold but Gunther kicks Cena away and hits a drop kick. Gunther with a power bomb and he asks the referee to ask Cena if he wants to quit. Gunther with a clothesline. Gunther wants the referee to ask Cena again. Gunther with another clothesline and he wants the referee to ask Cena again.

GUNTHER then hits another clothesline and follows it up with another clothesline. GUNTHER then hits one more clothesline, but Cena refuses to give up. Cena then ducks a clothesline and Cena hits a flying shoulder tackle for two. GUNTHER then hits another Blue Thunder Bomb. Cena then hits a five knuckle shuffle and an Attitude Adjustment. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then gets GUNTHER up again, but GUNTHER escapes and he chops Cena in the back of the neck. GUNTHER then cinches in a sleeper. Cena then cinches in a sleeper of his own. Cena then adds a body scissors. GUNTHER then gets his foot on the ropes to release the hold. Both men then go to the floor and GUNTHER hits a chop and a back drop driver onto the apron. GUNTHER then sends Cena into the ring steps.

GUNTHER then pulls the ring steps next to the announce desk. GUNTHER then sets up for a power bomb off the steps through the desk. Cena then gets GUNTHER up and he hits an Attitude Adjustment through the table. Cena then rolls GUNTHER to the ring and inside the ring. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then goes up top for a Rocker Dropper and he hits it. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then sets up for a Five Knuckle Shuffle. GUNTHER then hits a boot and a German suplex. GUNTHER then hits a power bomb and he gets a near fall. GUNTHER then goes up top for a frog splash, but Cena hits an uppercut. Cena then sets up for a Super Attitude Adjustment and he hits it for a near fall.

Cena then hits a punch. GUNTHER then hits a chop. Cena then hits a kick and GUNTHER hits a chop. Both men continue to go back and forth. Cena then tries for an Attitude Adjustment, but GUNTHER escapes and he hits a power bomb. Cena then hits a frog splash for a near fall. GUNTHER wants Cena to get up. GUNTHER then cinches in a sleeper and Cena falls to the mat. Cena then gets a second wind and he tries to get out of the hold, but GUNTHER reapplies the sleeper. GUNTHER then adds a body scissors, but Cena gets back to his feet.

Cena then keeps trying to escape, but GUNTHER reapplies the sleeper. GUNTHER then gets on Cena’s back to add more pressure. Cena then backs GUNTHER into the turnbuckles and he escapes the hold. GUNTHER then returns to the sleeper. He then gets Cena down to the mat again. Cena then gets back to his feet and GUNTHER gets on Cena’s back again. Cena then sends GUNTHER into the corner. Cena then hits an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall. GUNTHER then returns to the sleeper and he adds a body scissors. The arm then goes down two times. The referee then lifts the arm for perhaps the final time, but Cena does not let it drop. GUNTHER then hits some elbows to the clavicle. GUNTHER then returns to the sleeper and Cena taps out.

The winner of the Singles Match, “The Ring General” GUNTHER!

After the match, the production crew cut to various shots of shocked and disappointed fans, including some who were crying. Cole says professional wrestling destroyed sports entertainment. Barrett then says GUNTHER just became the standard-bearer for the industry. Cole then says he and the fans are in shock over seeing Cena tap out. Cole then says it was Goldberg and now Cena. Cole then says GUNTHER is a career killer and GUNTHER exits the ring.

Cena then looks around while the crowd shows their anger over the result of the match. Cena then kneels in the center of the ring and kisses the mat. Cena then smiles a little. Cena then bows to the crowd. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon then make their way down to the ring with Cody Rhodes, The Undertaker, CM Punk, Bruce Pritchard, Shawn Michaels and more. Cody and Punk then enter the ring. The rest of the roster and dignitaries at ringside then make their way to the ringside area. Punk and Cody then give Cena their title belts. Cena then holds up the title belts.Cena wants to give them their belts back, but they refuse. Cena then shows the belts off to all sides of the arena. He then gives them the title belts back. Triple H and Cena then shake hands and hug. We then see a John Cena video package.

Cena then bows again to all four sides of the ring and he salutes. Cena then does the tradition and he takes off his shoes in the center of the ring along with his wrist and arm bands. Cena then makes his way to the back one last time. Cena then bows one more time and he salutes one final time as the show comes to a close.
