WWE’s biggest premium live events aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Even after recent comments from TKO President Mark Shapiro.
Mark Shapiro said last week in an interview, “Right now, a lot of our PLEs were created by Vince McMahon. We need to get in the business of taking that torch and moving past that.”
With that being said speculation began online that Big WWE events like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series would be disappeared.
However, According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), a WWE higher up informed him that this change in philosophy would be more towards the basic monthly premium live events and not big events such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, or SummerSlam.
“Saudi Arabia isn’t paying for WrestlePalooza, they’re paying for WrestleMania, and the value of that name and brand is the reason for that.”
The source also pointed out that WWE has already committed events under the WrestleMania and Summerslam banners to Indianapolis and New Orleans beyond what has been announced.
