Here are the latest WWE-related backstage news & note that was reported by Fightful Select.
– The decision not to run the Blake Monroe vs. Thea Hail match on this week’s NXT had been in the works for “a couple of weeks” and was not a last-minute decision.
If you missed it: Hail was set to defend the Women’s North American Championship against Monroe at New Year’s Evil. However, Monroe then attacked Hail before the match could get started and “injured” her, leading to Ava banning Monroe from the building. Hail then defended the title in an open challenge, which Izzi Dame answered to win the title.
-Regarding NXT Call-Ups, Blake Monroe and Jacy Jayne have been mentioned internally, but there is no expectation that either will be moved to the main roster in the immediate future.
–There were internal efforts to bring cast members from Stranger Things to a recent episode of WWE RAW, but those plans ultimately did not come together.
– On the WWE’s deal with Netflix, The deal will primarily covers archived pay-per-view events from the WWE library. However, There are still plans in place to gradually roll out additional content on YouTube.
– Meanwhile, The Street Profits are not currently part of WWE’s ongoing European tour.
– Outside of WWE, there was confirmed interest from WWE in The Knockout Bros. However, NJPW sources says that the company did not expect the champions to leave, even prior to their public comments. The report also notes that WWE’s interest was a topic of discussion among talent in the week leading up to Wrestle Kingdom 20.
–Stephanie Vaquer is dealing with a legitimate issue. While the exact severity is unclear, she has been cleared for contact. The injury has been described as an ankle sprain, and Vaquer recently shared a photo of the bruising on social media (see below).
