Heading into tonight, Solo Sikoa was set to face a mystery opponent in a first round tournament match, with the eventual winner going on to face John Cena in his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
When it was time for the mystery opponent to make their entrance it was revealed to be former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler returned to a big reaction from the fans who chanted “welcome back” after he made his way down to the ring. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion dominated the match early on and fans responded with chants of “let’s go Ziggler,” as Talla Tonga looked on from ringside.
Solo eventually got the upper hand, but after a few minutes Ziggler managed to connect with the Zig Zag. Unfortunately for Ziggler, Solo kicked out at two. Ziggler set Solo up for a superkick. Solo blocked it at first then Ziggler immediately responded with another superkick which connected. Solo Sikoa then turned right around and connected with the Samoan Spike to win the match.
The return marks Nemeth’s first appearance in a WWE ring since his release from the company in September 2023.
