Backstage News On When John Cena Agreed To Host WWE WrestleMania 42

As noted before, John Cena will be the official host of this month’s WrestleMania 42.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that John Cena hosting WrestleMania was not in the plans when Cena retired from in-ring competition back in December. According to the report Cena learned of the plans back in February, and he agreed to it. The 17 time champion had agreed to a new deal with WWE that didn’t include in-ring wrestling. The move to add John Cena to the show as a host was done to boost ticket sales for WrestleMania 42.

Cena retired from in-ring competition at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. At WrestleMania 41, he defeated Cody Rhodes to win a record 17th WWE Championship before stepping away.

WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The current updated WrestleMania 42 lineup can be seen in full below:
