Backstage Update & Clarification On Rhea Ripley And Jade Cargill Online Feud

Recently WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley got into in an online feud that was initially meant to help build their storyline feud for their upcoming title match at WrestleMania 42 this April in Las Vegas, NV but quickly turned into a “shoot” instead after allegations made by Cargill claiming Ripley politics her way into getting big pushes for her big star status in the Women’s division in WWE.

According to a new report from PWInsider, The back and forth between Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley was not something devised by WWE creative. It’s being said that a number of sources are placing the blame directly on Cargill for the situation that took place. One source noted that Cargill has been criticized by a number of talents for rubbing people the wrong way. When the back and forth with Rhea Ripley began on social media it wasn’t hard for other talents to join in and make their voices heard. The source added that this isn’t the first time Jade Cargill has upset others, and it was intimated that when there were reports of Jade being hurt last year the real reason she disappeared was to spend some time at the Performance Center to allow the issues between her and the other women backstage to cool down.

Another source tried to downplay the situation, but admitted that they expect management to step in and speak to Cargill about her relationship with the rest of the locker room. The source noted that everyone in the locker room has been happy to do what needs to be done to get Jade over, but the feeling is the respect they show her has not been reciprocated. It was described as Jade feeling “insecure” when she shouldn’t have any reason to feel that way.

According to report from Fightful Select, several sources indicated that the back-and-forth between Ripley and Cargill initially started as a “playful work” but then things took a more serious turn after Cargill brought up Ripley speaking with WWE creative for extended periods.

Several sources in WWE were confused and unable to figure out how bringing up creative could be used to further their feud heading into their title match at WrestleMania 42. However, It has been said that WWE is “generally happy” about how this situation has turned out given the buzz it has created for Cargill and Ripley’s upcoming match and many fans believing there is a legitimate dislike between the two.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that There is currently no concern within WWE that the two will not be able to work together at next month’s WrestleMania 42 event. One member of WWE’s creative team reportedly shut down the idea that this who situation was an elaborate work. Those close to Cargill reportedly stated that they believed it wasn’t a big deal. Sapp reported that there currently does not appear to be any real heat on anyone for the tweets posted over the past couple of days.

Regarding Cargill’s injury situation in 2024, it has been said that Cargill had suffered a legitimate injury for the reason for her abscense from WWE between late 2024 to early 2025.

Ripley is set to challenge for Cargill’s WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42. The show takes place on April 18th and 19th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air live on ESPN Unlimited domestically and Netflix internationally.

Before WrestleMania, however, Cargill and Ripley will go face-to-face on this Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
