At WWE NXT New Year’s Evil 2026, Oba Femi retained the NXT Championship over TNA Wrestling’s X Division champion Leon Slater.
Following his victory, NXT GM Ava was seen backstage talking to the WWE EVOLVE locker room and stated that there will be a lot of new opportunities on NXT and spots due to Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Lash Legend, and Jordynne Grace all being officially called up to the main roster. This led to Robert Stone showing up to interrupt and told Ava if she saw what Femu just did, which Ava responded back not knowing what happened.
This led to the camera going back to the ring showing the NXT title laid on the mat and Femi being nowhere to see as Tony D’Angelo looked on from the crowd as NXT went off the air.
It’s been rumored for some time now that Oba Femi is getting called up to the main roster soon and WWE has been running vignettes for Oba on both Raw and SmackDown.
