Izzi Dame is new Women’s North American Champion.
NXT New Year’s Evil special was scheduled to kick off with the NXT Women’s North American Championship rematch between Thea Hail and Blake Monroe after Thea’s controversial victory over Blake on December 16.
However, Blake would jump Thea on her way to the ring, leading to the match between them being cancelled, Ava would confront Blake Monroe backstage after the attack, banning her from the arena.
However, Thea Hail would later say that she intended to still defend the title tonight, heading to the ring for an open challenge. The open challenge would end up being answered by Izzi Dame, who had competed in the show’s opening match against Tatum Paxley, which saw Tatum pick up the win, with Shawn Spears and Niko Vance of the Culling making their return to aid Izzi.
The second bout of the night would go better for Izzi, with her picking up the victory over Thea to win the North American Championship, capturing her first title of her WWE career.
