Fightful Select has provided an update on why New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) has scaled back its U.S. schedule in recent years. The company has only run three events in the U.S. this year and six last year — excluding co-promoted shows — compared to eight standalone events in 2023.
According to the report, declining attendance, along with wrestlers on the NJPW not wanting to make the trip overseas, has led to scaling back of NJPW events in the United States. The most recent NJPW show in America was Battle in the Valley, which took place this past May in Ontario, California.
